THE Little Hay golfers made the most of the sunny weather as they competed in the club’s Captain’s Day on Saturday.
Many of the competitors chose to play from Little Hay’s championship tees, which presented an especially tough golfing challenge.
The winning lady was Elaine Meagher with 40 points, and the leading man playing from the normal competition tees was Ross Kerridge with 44 points.
The leading player competing from the championship tees, and winner of the Captain’s Cup for 2012, was Chris Miles with a score of 41 points.
Other trohiees were awarded on the day to: Elaine Meagher, straightest drive and longest ladies’ drive; Donald Mcleod, longest drive (white tees); Steve Pinnock, longest drive (blue tees).
The morning’s golf was followed by an evening dinner and quiz night for members and their guests in aid of the captain’s charity – the Alzheimer’s Society.
Elsewhere, club members competed in the Ladies’ Basildon Bond Rosebowl on Monday.
Pauline Manning finished first on countback with 39 points, ahead of on-form runner-up Meagher, and third-placed Jan Boyling.
