Comets beaten as Gadebridge show their grit

BADMINTON: The Gadebridge Mixed 1 team were forced to dig deep but came away with a good away win at Comets.

In a close encounter, the Gadebridge team – Grant Hall, Liz Bateman, Richard Billing, Laura Godfrey, Gary Watkinson and Carol Johnston – kept their cool to eventually run out 5-4 winners.

Meanwhile, there is still time to sign up for Gadebridge Junior Badminton Club’s charity badminton marathon.

The event will run for 24 hours from 7pm on Friday, April 13 to 7pm on Saturday, April 14 and money raised will to towards Cancer Research UK and the club .

Participants are welcome to join in for the whole 24 hours, or players can dip in and out according to the time they can spare.

Anyone wishing to play with a group of friends can pre-book specific court space and time on a first come first served basis.

All ages and abilities are welcome to join in, and a tuck shop, cake stall and barbecue will be on offer.

Anybody interested in taking part simply needs to get as many sponsors and raise as much money as possible, with a prize going to the person who raises the most money.

Alternatively, players can simply make a £10 donation to the cause.
