Newly-formed Berkhamsted Cycling Club and their long-established neighbours Hemel Hempstead CC have been busy racing in the Imperial Winter Series in Hillingdon.

Both Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted have seen some great success in the road racing series, starting out in Round 6 with Andy Fleet of HHCC taking his first win in the category 4 race.

Fleet then demonstrated his form again by finishing third in Round 7 – securing enough points to move up into the category 3 race classification for the forthcoming season.

Robert Abbey, also of Hemel Hempstead, secured sixth place.

Round 8 of the series saw Berkhamsted emulate their neighbouring club, with rider Nick Clarke most prominent in the category 4 men’s race.

However, unlike previous weeks where a dominant rider made a move stick, it wasn’t until the last 400m that 17-year-old Josh Curtis – also of Berkhamsted Cycling Club – surged ahead and held off the stampede behind to win his first race.

Abbey once again showed good form as he finished in ninth place
