Tring 18-23 Dorking
TRING’S winning run came to an end on Saturday as they were beaten 23-18 by Dorking.
The defeat sees Tring slip to sixth in the National League 3 London and South East league table, with Dorking moving up to third.
Nathan Lambden and Liam Chennells bagged a try apiece for Tring, while Chennells added a conversion and two penalties to the total.
It was not to be for Tring, though, as Dorking edged them out with three tries of their own – as well as a conversion and two penalties – to claim the five-point win.
Tring will be looking for a good response to the defeat when they take on Ampthill on Saturday.
That is the side’s last fixture before the Christmas break. They then have a three-week spell without a game, before taking on Canterbury at home on January 7 in their first match of 2012.
Away from the field, a team of boys from the U16 age group will be doing their bit to raise money for The Hospice of St Francis.
From 10.30am on Sunday, the boys will be helping Christmas shoppers to pack their bags in Sainsburys, Apsley Mill.
Elsewhere, the club has a new chairman and vice-chairman for the mini and junior sections. Kenny McDonald takes over as chairman, while Mike Kearney will be his vice.
