Berkhamsted School enjoyed a successful day in their block fixture against Magdalen College School – recording eight wins out of 13 fixtures.
The first XI produced a solid performance to win by six wickets, as Xavier Owen (3-20) was once again the pick of the bowlers in Magdalen’s innings of 168-7.
In response, Berkhamsted openers Max Maciver (74) and Ali Leighton (37) set a solid platform, before Maciver – pictured in bat – and Harry Bartlett (38 n/o) saw the team past their target with three overs to spare.
Elsewhere, the second XI maintained their unbeaten record with a six-wicket win.
Captain Richard Morton bowled with great control and Iain Billington (40) and Henry Scott (35) starred with the bat.
The third team were also victorious in their Twenty20 clash – Jamie Wise scoring a quick-fire 52 to set up the victory.
In the day’s other matches, the U15As won comfortably by eight wickets after dismissing their opponents for 88.
Omar Hattea’s innings of 43 meant that they reached their target with plenty of overs to spare.
The U15Bs found the going as little tougher as they lost by 59 runs, while there were three wins at U14 level – U14A all-rounder George Carter ending the day with figures of 2-12 and a match winning 62.
The U13s suffered three defeats, but captain Dominic Youns hit a match-winning half century for the U12 A side.
