The trophies were presented to team representatives at the recent AGM of the leagues to mark the end of the competition season.

Suzanne Brady, chair of LBPC and captain of the winning mixed doubles team in the St Albans League, said: “This is an absolutely fantastic result for Lockers Park Badminton and well done to all our members. I am immensely proud of what we’ve achieved this season.

“We have great players in our club coming not only from Hemel Hempstead but also from the surrounding areas including St Albans, Berkhamsted, Leighton Buzzard, Dunstable, Aylesbury and Watford.”

LPBC took the SWHBL mixed doubles Division 1 trophy for the third consecutive year. Team captain Lynne Leigh said: “I want to thank the team for all their efforts in winning 12 matches out of 12 during this season. We’ve had some great games and it’s such a thrill to win the trophy for the third year running.”

The mens 6 team battled with some very close matches during the season, winning eight and losing two, but eventually retaining the title for the second year running.

Skipper Mike Robinson said: “We had some tough matches but, with some great team players, we managed to secure the trophy which is very pleasing. My thanks go to our team players for playing so well. Our challenge now is to defend it next year!”

The ladies 4 team also had some very tight matches but managed to snatch the SWHBL Ladies 6 division 1 trophy by winning eight matches and losing four.

Team captain Julie Cooper commented: “We had some very challenging fixtures this year, and it was great to be the winners of the league. A big thank you to the ladies who played in the team and put so much effort into every point.”

Brady added: “These are great results for LPBC and next season will be a tough one for us to retain our titles.

“If you would like to be part of our success story why not come along and join us for the forthcoming season.

“We have match standard badminton on our two club nights, and we also have a couple of team places at Division 1 and 2 levels for men and ladies for the 2015/2016 season.

“We welcome new players of match level standard to come and join us.”
