Freeman stays top after latest victory

ALAN Freeman extended his lead at the top of the table as the Little Hay golfers took to the course for the fourth round of the Summer Evening 9 hole League.

Freeman’s score of 21 points was the best of the night, one point better than second-placed Robbie McIver. Third was Jamie McIver with 19, and William Howe also scored 19.

Freeman now boasts a five-shot lead at the top of the league, ahead of Mike Reader (70 points), Tony Wheeler (66), Paul Whiter (66) and Ivan Lawrence (66).

The best four scores from six rounds will decide the winner.

Elswehere, Darren Blackman won Division One of the Men’s Medal, while James Morris took the Division Two title.

The ladies’ and senior men’s mixed pairs trophy, meanwhile, was won with a superb 73 points by Anne Corbett and Frank Klimaszewski. Second were Pauline Manning and John Cowan.

The senior men’s monthly Stableford resulted in Division One being won by Paul Whiter and Ralph Lane triumphing in Division Two.
