Gymnastics

IT has been an exciting couple of months at Berkhamsted Gymnastics Club, as they go from strength to strength.

The club was recently awarded a grant of £3,180 from Berkhamsted Youth Town Council as part of its participatory budget scheme. They will use the money to pay for equipment including a launch pad.

As well as this, the club has been attracting plenty of new members through visits to local schools where they have presented Olympic-themed assemblies with demonstrations from the squad.

And the gymnasts have been flying high in recent months, recording a string of exceptional results.

Claudia Chmielowska and Poppy Wager Leigh both reached the National finals this year, while Amelia Evans represented the gold medal-winning Hertfordshire squad on several occasions.

To top things off, the club recently held their own club championships, which proved to be a big hit.

All Berkhamsted Gymnastics Club members took part, from ages four to 16, and enjoyed an exciting day of competition on all four pieces of apparatus.

Medals were hotly-contested and proudly worn by the winners of the 19 different categories.
