Hemel Camelot 27-22 UCS Old Boys
Camelot took on UCS Old Boys at home on Saturday and secured a 27-22 victory.
A Richard Woodard penalty gave Hemel the lead, but UCS hit back with a penalty try.
Minutes later, Camelot fly-half Daniel O’Brien crashed across the line to score under the posts, and Woodard converted to regain the lead at 10-7 after 36 minutes.
Back came the away side, though, scoring a converted try and to move back in front at 14-10 just before half time.
Camelot came out strongly after the interval – outside centre Ross Willoughby went over for a converted try to put the scoreline back in Hemel’s favour.
In a real end-to-end encounter, UCS struck back to regain the lead, before Camelot Wing Adonis Marmaras went over to snatch the advantage back again.
Woodard kicked to extend the Hemel side’s lead to 27-19 with six minutes of the match remaining, and despite a late USC penalty, Camelot held on for the win.
The second team, meanwhile, beat Hitchin III 66-5, the third XI team beat South Oxhey 29-15 and the fourth team lost narrowly with only 13 men at Fullerians IV.
The Colts beat Datchworth 31-13 in a friendly and four out of the junior sides won.
