Teenager Jake Caress has been named joint-manager of the U14 Herts Cardinals baseball team alongside Herts Falcons boss Lee Manning.
Caress, 17, becomes the youngest coach at the Hemel-based club and will be hoping to pass on his experience as a GB U19 player to the Cardinals starlets. He will also take a place on the club’s executive board.
Experienced coach Manning will initially work alongside Caress, before gradually reducing his involvement in the team to leave Caress in sole charge.
A club spokesman said: “While the recent announcements of acquisitions of high-profile players by the Herts Falcons can excite supporters of the club in the short run, this appointment could potentially bring even greater value for the club in the long run.”
