Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead Hockey Club enjoyed a good set of results as teams returned to full strength following the half-term unavailability which had affected them over the two previous weekends.

After last week’s draw, the men’s first team continued their good form with a 6-3 win over West Herts, while the men’s seconds, men’s thirds and ladies’ seconds also won.

The ladies’ first XI remain unbeaten after a draw against Hertford, while the club’s two development teams did themselves proud despite defeats in tough fixtures.

Captain Pete Allam led the way for the men’s firsts as he bagged five goals in his side’s win at West Herts.

In-form skipper Allam could have had a double hat-trick, but unselfishly fed Alex Macindoe to wrap up the win with the sixth goal.

The men’s second team beat Stevenage 4-1, while the men’s thirds won 6-3 at Southgate Adelaide thanks to goals from Ed Goodwyn, Will Goodwyn, Tom Moorhouse, Ed Holderness, Steve Redman and an own-goal.

The ladies’ second XI won 3-0 against Potters Bar, and the ladies’ first team drew 2-2 draw at home to Hertford.

All four goals came in the first half with Molly Beard and Claire Barrett-Mold twice putting Berko ahead before Hertford hit back to earn a share of the spoils.

Elsewhere, the ladies’ third team held a rampant Bluharts side to their narrowest win of the season as they restricted their opponents to a 5-2 victory, while the men’s fourth team lost 2-0 to Broxbourne.

The BHHHC junior sides were also in action at the weekend as the U10s and U12s battled it out at the Bedford Tournament.

The U12s played in four matches – winning one, losing two and drawing one – while the U10s won two and lost two.
