AN Under-17 team from Sligo, Ireland travelled to Tring this weekend for an international friendly match.
A strong second half performance helped the hosts to a comprehensive 24-7 win.
The match was due to be played on Tring’s main pitch prior to the First Team game against Havant, but heavy rain meant the game had to be switched to the second pitch.
Sligo had won their domestic league two years in a row and were runners-up this season, so Tring faced a tough task against their Irish opponents.
The first half was a close affair with Tring scoring first and Sligo responding with a converted try of their own to lead 5-7 at half time.
Tring made a number of changes to the team in the second half to ensure all 24 players in the squad got onto the pitch, and as Sligo tired, the hosts took control to canter to the impressive victory.
