Little Hay Golf Club’s John Redgwell has scored his first ever hole-in-one after sinking a tee-shot in the Little Hay seniors’ away match at Stevenage.
The second hole was a tricky downhill par-three with a hedge in front of the green, blocking the view of the hole itself.
After playing his tee-shot over the hedge, John spent some time looking unsuccessfully for his ball when finally he looked in the hole – and there it was.
John and his partner eventually won their match by two holes to give Little Hay the overall victory by four matches to two.
The seniors then replicated that result with a 4-2 home win over Cheshunt.
In the Seniors’ August Stableford, meanwhile, Paul Whiter scored 45 points to win Division One and John Ridgewell bagged 41 points to triumph in Division Two.
Elsewhere, the junior competitions continue each Wednesday, building to the junior championship at the end of this month.
The latest three competitions were won by Ryan Howe, Andrew Varney and Michael Burton, respectively.
The ladies, meanwhile, battled it out in the Fressingham Cup, and Sophia Lodge emerged victorious with a score of 44 points.
Tracy Franklin took second place on count-back, ahead of Dorcas Kindinger. Both ladies accumulated 40 points on the day.
