Berkhamsted Swimming Club were in action across Hertfordshire as five swimmers took to the water at the Herts ASA County Distance Championships while 30 juniors went to the South Herts Trophy.
For the distance swimmers, Jess Potts and Ellen Northwood competed in the 800m freestyle, with Northwood finishing sixth overall in an eight-second PB of 10m, 48.59s. Potts finished in ninth place overall.
For the boys, Mason Brand won bronze in his age group and Hamish MacCaig also swam well. However, the performance of the night came from Jordan Northwood as he led his heat from the start and eventually finished nearly 40m clear of the field.
He set a PB at 800m before finishing in a 35-second improvement for what proved to be his first ever regional qualifying time and another bronze medal.
Meanwhile, the junior team, made up of mostly novice swimmers, managed to finish fourth at Potters Bar’s South Herts trophy.
There were wins for the nine-year-old girls’ freestyle relay team, Isabella MacDonald and James Boylan in the nine-year-olds’ backstroke, Ish Rahim in the 11-year-olds’ butterfly, the nine-year-old boys’ medley relay team, and the 10-year-old boys’ freestyle relay squad.
The rest of the team was made up of Molly Baker, Anna Billingham, Lauren Collingwood, Milly Cunningham, Charlotte Cunningham, Essie Harrison, Faron Heaphy, Abi Hewson, Caitlin Kelley, Isabella MacDonald, Elliss McNab, Natalia Moren, Grace Payne, Lottie Priestley, Emma Walker, Sam Baker, Jack Bowers, James Boylan, James Corner, Jacob D’Cunha, Luke Farnan, Ben Holmes-Higgin, Michael Joyce, Marley Maidment, Ish Rahim, Jack Rees, Tobey Spriggs, Daniel Stace and Ollie Turner.
