Tring School pupil ‘Lightning’ Luke Richardson will be racing with a professional karting team until the end of the season after being snapped up by the Protrain Kart Team.
The team has previously produced world, European and national karting champions, and Luke is hoping to follow in their footsteps.
Former St Bartholomew’s School pupil Luke is delighted to have been selected as a talented driver by the Protrain Kart Team principal and said: “It’s great that all my hard work and dedication has been recognised by one of the top karting teams.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for me and I wish to take full advantage of this break I have been given.”
Luke has built upon his success last year where he came second in the Milton Keynes Daytona 2014 Cadet Class Championship.
This has seen Luke, now 13 years old, move up into the Junior Kart Championship at Milton Keynes where is racing against drivers up to two years older than himself.
Yet again, he has produced consistent results in the six races so far this season , finishing second three times, third once and fourth once - leaving him second overall in the Championship.
In his first race with the team on Sunday, Luke won the rookie trophy for his Kart Class at the Shenington Race Weekend, yet again racing against individuals up two years older than himself.
Luke is always looking for sponsorship in this highly competitive sport. To find out more, please call Paul on 01442 300282
