The Little Hay Juniors played strongly in their first match in the Herts Lexus League away to Hartsbourne.

Little Hay led in three out of four matches at the halfway point but the home side recovered strongly to win three matches to one – taking 10.5 points to Little Hay’s 5.5.

When thanking their hosts, Little Hay junior captain Hamish Jarvie promised the Hartsbourne team an epic but friendly battle when they visit Little Hay for the return fixture.

Meanwhile, Little Hay ladies have been having a busy time. Their A team of Linda Cusick, Linda Reeve and Elaine Meagher played Huntswood in the Whitewebbs Shield knockout and won by four points.

Previously, in the quarter-final of the Pearson Trophy, Little Hay played at Brookman’s Park where the lightning fast greens were a big challenge.

Clare Stammeijer and Caroline Banks won their matches but the overall result was a 5-2 win for Brookman’s Park.

Linda Reeve won the Ladies’ June Medal with a net 68, Elaine Meagher was second with net 69 and her gross of 78 was the best score of the day. Hee Young Crowhurst came third with a net 71.

Played within the Medal was the Granny’s Cup which this year was won by Pauline Manning, net 73, beating Jacky Joslin on count-back.

The Little Hay senior men had a successful match at Wycombe Heights, winning on the tricky course by four and a half to one and a half.
