There was an exciting end to the Little Hay men’s John Catchpole Cup competition as two players finished tied on 39 Stableford points.
After count-back, Patrick Ashton was declared the winner and Ivan Lawrence took second place. Tony Hodson was two points further back in third.
Little Hay ladies, meanwhile, played foursomes for the O’Connor Cup.
The winning pair, with 38 Stableford points, was the team of Elaine Meagher and Linda Reeve who had recently won the 2013 Daily Mail Foursomes.
Second with 34 points was Caroline Banks’s team and third also with 34 points was Pauline Manning’s team.
As a result of their win Elaine and Linda will have the chance to retain their crown as they represent Little Hay in the 2014 Daily Mail tournament.
Elsewhere, the Little Hay senior men played their October Stableford competition on Thursday.
Division One ended in a tie on 37 points and John Ridgewell was declared the winner over Paul Whiter on countback. Frank Klimaszewski was third with 35 points.
In Division Two the players found the wet conditions hard going and Syl Nolan took the win with 33 points, just one ahead of Vic Allen. Trevor Sargent came third with 30 points.
Meanwhile, the Little Hay juniors will be holding competitions this week to decide the Order of Merit for the year.
Prize-giving will be on Friday afternoon and any juniors interested in playing are welcome to go along and get a taste of the club.
