The Herts Ravens continued their impressive run of form with a brace of victories in a double-header with AAA South leaders Oxford Kings.
Led by Hemel Hempstead-based team manager Carlos Casal, the Ravens maintained the run which has seen them climb the table after a difficult start to the campaign.
Youngster Liam Green was remarkably effective on the mound, preventing the normally potent Oxford offence from plating a single run.
Louis Hare also provided stellar pitching in the second game, limiting the Kings to two unearned runs, while Jonathon Lewys had a memorable day with the bat – leading the Ravens with three hits in each of the contests.
Elsewhere, in an all-Herts Baseball Club clash, the Raptors gained revenge for an early-season reverse by beating the Eagles 19-4.
The Herts Falcons were not in action this week, and the Southampton Mustangs capitalised on this by sweeping defending national champions Harlow Nationals to move level with Herts at the top of the National Baseball League table.
If the London Mets sweep the Lakenheath Diamondbacks in their double-header, they will join the Falcons and Mustangs in a three-way tie at the summit of Britain’s top league.
Next up for the Falcons is a double-header with Essex Redbacks at Melbourne Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Herts Ravens, meanwhile, are set to travel to Richmond Knights.
