Sapphire gymnasts prove that they are on another level

The boys and the girls at Sapphire School of Gymnastics were once again amongst the medals in various competitions this week.

Arthur Hardman took part in the National Club Level 5 U13 competition as part of the east region team who took third place overall.

Individually, Arthur finished ninth with a first place medal for his floor routine.

Josh Underwood, also competing for the east region, was in club Level 3 for the U11 team.

The team finished in first place overall with Josh earning the most points and claiming fifth individually. His top display earned him a call-up for National Squad training next month.

Meanwhile, the girls were not to be outdone and were taking part in the National Age Group Championships in Guildford.

Ondine Achampong was taking part in the Level 4 competition, representing the east, and came fifth with a second place on the beam.

Her score is added to her set-work score from earlier in the year which gave her third place overall and helped the east team into first place.

In Level 3, Hallie Copperwheat came ninth with a second place on floor, making her combined score 10th overall.

Level 2 is an individual competition and Sapphire had three competitors – Megan Splain, Stephanie Ponder and Alyieana Rahim.

Megan was fifth with a second place on vault, Stephanie eighth with a fouth place on floor and Alyieana 15th and first on vault .

The three girls have qualified to take part in the new Level 1 competition next year.
