TABLE TENNIS: The 75th season of the Hemel Hempstead Table Tennis League is under way.

The first few results in Division One went to form, with the top teams getting off to good starts.

The two promoted teams met each other in the season opener, with Waters B beating Tring 7-3.

The Waters B side, though, lost their next game 9-1 away to Row, while Tring were beaten by the same scoreline by the Waters first team.

Adeyfield, meanwhile, were forced to concede their first game of the season to Waters A, but they bounced back the following week to register a 10-0 victory at Adeyfield A.

Elsewhere, Division Two saw newly-promoted Northchurch I beat a depleted McAlpines I side 8-2, with Simon Whale making a splash with three wins from his three games.

Northchurch, however, were then thrashed 9-1 by Flamstead A, before KLCC I overcame Adeyfield B 6-4. KLCC won the doubles game to clinch the match.

Division Three, meanwhile, got off to a fragmented opening, but Flamstead C made a winning start as they beat Northchurch High A 8-2. Phil Oswin and Gil Slater both won each of their three games.

McAlpine A began their campaign with a 7-3 win over Adeyfield C, thanks largely to a maximum from Xinjun Wang. Adeyfield C then lost 9-1 at home to Highfield, with Barry Dixon also recording a maximum.
