Hemel Hempstead racer Michael Epps has been reflecting on a promising debut season in the USA after making the trip across the pond at the start of this year.

The Hemel Hempstead man experienced plenty of ups and downs over the course of the season but says he has learned some valuable lessons.

The final meet of the campaign –the Houston GP – epitomised Epps’ season as a whole, with an impressive start ultimately hindered by car troubles along the way.

“I had another fifth-placed finish in Saturday’s race with pace for a podium or better, just unfortunate circumstances while I was trying for third place ended up shuffling me back,” he said.

“In Sunday’s race it poured it down and I was already making places having started fifth in the wet conditions, but a driveshaft failure stopped me going any further and I had to pull off the circuit.

“Still, never mind – it’s a strong showing and proves to others that if I can get the opportunity to come back next year I shall certainly be pushing for wins, podiums and not forgetting the $383,000 winners’ prize fund for use in the next level up!

“I’d like to thank each and every one of my partners this year for their support – you guys have been great and it’s been not only been a privilege, but a pleasure too to have such lovely people on board with Team Epps this year.”

Epps has a few months off now to prepare for next season, but the speedster says he will be working hard in preparation for another shot at glory.

“I now go into the off-season during the winter where I’ll be working to raise the financial budget and find myself a solution to continue racing in 2014 and go for this championship,” he said.
