TringRugby have appointed Paul Bennett as the new club chairman following the inaugural Trustee Board meeting of the Tring Community Rugby Trust.

Bennett was club captain from 1992-94, director of rugby from 2007-08 and 2010-12, and has considerable business experience.

Peter Borg-Neal, Tring Community Rugby Trust chairman, said: “Paul is a strong leader who is committed to the one club model and I am confident that he is the right man to culturally embed the change processes put in place over the past few years.

“He has been working abroad in Hong Kong for the past three years and returns to the UK in November. Martin Walters will continue as interim chairman until Paul’s arrival, after which they will mutually agree a handover process.”

The club has also appointed three further trustees with immediate effect – John Hopson, Deric Newman and Charlotte West – while Borg-Neal has been elected as chairman of the Board of Trustees.

The Board of Trustees meets formally four times a year and it is their intention to update on a more regular basis about the club’s focus and plans.

Borg-Neal added: “It’s a hugely exciting time to be part of Tring Rugby and I look forward to being able to share our journey with you in the coming months.”
