No let up as Waters run clear at the top

The Hemel Hempstead Table Tennis League is back in full swing.

In the opening round of matches following the winter break, league leaders Waters I beat club-mates Waters A 8-2, with Gary Keers leading the way with a maximum.

The team followed that up with another convincing victory as they saw off Waters B 10-0.

Second-placed Adeyfield I, meanwhile, picked up an impressive 10-0 win at Row, with Mark York, Mike Boardman and John Fox all recording maximums.

Row then bounced back with an 8-2 win over Flamstead I, with Richard Anderson winning his three clashes.

Elsewhere, Adeyfield A beat Waters B 8-2 with Les Leech and Martin Johnson doing the damage.

Adeyfield then lost 6-4 to Tring despite Johnson bagging a maximum for the losing side.

In the meantime, Waters A triumphed 7-3 over Flamstead I, with Ken Stonebridge winning his three games.

One of the only two matches in Division Two, meanwhile, saw Waters C beat Adeyfield B 6-4 with Ian Thomas helping himself to a maximum for the winners.

In the other Division Two contest, KLCC I overcame Northchurch I 6-4, despite the best efforts of Northchurch’s Graham Perkins.

In Division Three, table-toppers Highfield maintained their 100 per cent record courtesy of a 7-3 win over Flamstead C. Barry Dixon bagged a maximum.

Second-placed Adeyfield C edged to a narrow 6-4 win over KLCC A, while McAlpines A saw off Northchurch A 8-2 as Xin Wang won all three of his games.

Northchurch also lost 8-2 to Flamstead C as Phil Oswin fired his way to a maximum.

Elsewhere, St Georges picked up a 9-1 victory over Waters D, with Mike Brozicevic and Tim Boyall winning their matches.

St Georges were then held to a 5-5 draw at Flamstead C before losing 6-4 to McAlpines A as Wang again took a maximum.
