Runners help make race day one to remember

GADE Valley Harriers won the mens team first prize at the Berkhamsted Half Marathon for the third year on the trot.

Of the club's 20 runners, four finished in the top 25 - Guy Woollett in ninth (1.18:51, a pb), Rich Coles in 11th (1.19:05, also a pb), Bill Hawes in 16th (1.21:02) and Vince Ellerby in 22nd (1.23:02).

The rest of therunners impressed on Sunday, with two nine year olds also taking on the five mile Fun Run.

Meanwhile more than 300 members of Berkhamsted Raiders helped raise upwards of 10,000 for the BerkoAstro appeal.

They are now more than half way towards meeting their 1.3m target.

A total of 1,150 people took part in the Half Marathon, with another 600 taking on the Fun Run.
