Dacorum & Tring AC’s Matthew Salt notched up another win at the 6km Coombe Hill Run – outpacing a strong field on the tricky course near Wendover.

Close on his heels was teammate and long-distance specialist Jamie Marlow in sixth place overall. “We had great weather and lovely views, but there were two monster hills,” said Marlow, adding that the second hill was so steep most runners had to walk up part of it.

Elsewhere, D&T’s Alex Dean completed his first Half Ironman, at the Outlaw Half in Nottingham.

Dean finished the 1.2 mile swim, the 56 mile cycle and 13.1 mile run in a total time of 6 hours 2 minutes.

“It was a great event, and very well organised,” said Dean. “I struggled in the last couple of miles on the run because of a leg injury but I’m really pleased I did it.”
