Dacorum & Tring AC’s Southern Athletics League Team delivered a strong performance to claim second place in the penultimate match of the season.

The team’s good spirits were marred when sprinter Mike Smith – who cleared 1.45m when filling in in the high jump – slipped and badly damaged his knee.

Top scorer for the ladies’ team was Lauren Evans on 17 points and for the men was Trevor Ratcliffe on 18 points.

First places for the ladies’ team were achieved by: Amber Carroll - 100m hurdles A (18.3s) and 400m hurdles A (72.7s); Lauren Evans - pole vault A (1.90m) and high jump B (1.20m); Summer Clarke - 200m A (27.6s); Sarah Grover - high jump A (1.35m).

The result leaves D&T in third position in the league, going into the last match of the season, which is a home match at Jarmans Park. A win at this match should secure promotion.
