A man had to be cut out of his Mercedes after a three-car crash on the M1.
The 49-year-old suffered minor injuries after the accident at around 5.50pm at J9 on Wednesday evening and was taken to Luton and Dunstable Hospital after being freed by firefighters.

Police and paramedics were also on scene.

Three lanes of the four-lane motorway were closed afterwards. They were all reopened by 9pm.

The crash also involved a black Ford Mondeo and a silver Saab.

Nobody else was injured.

Crew commander Mark Mannell said: "I have never had to cut the roof off a new-ish car like that before.

"The cutting equipment found it hard to get through."
