Top cop Frank Whiteley got on his bike to support police widows when he took part in a charity spinathon.
The Chief Constable of Herts Police managed to complete 30 minutes in the saddle working up a sweat for Care of Police Survivors, or COPS.

Mr Whiteley joined a team of 114 officers and staff at a sports centre near the force's headquarters in Welwyn Garden City to take on the task.

So far £1,500 has been raised through sponsorship, but more cash is still coming in.

COPS aims to help families of police officers who die in the line of duty, and comprises survivors from around the UK who are willing to assist others in a practical way.
