Tuck into a tasty meal, mingle with like-minded people, support a good cause – it sounds like an ideal night out.

And the team at Volunteer Centre Dacorum are hoping that their fundraising feast next month – the first of a series of events aiming to raise the organisation’s profile as well as putting some much-needed cash in the coffers – will prove a big success.

The venue is the Sitar restaurant in Boxmoor, holder of the Dacorum heat of the Tiffin Cup, the annual competition run by MPs to celebrate South Asian cuisine.

Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning, who presented a specially monogrammed chef’s jacket to the chefs at the St John’s Road restaurant to commemorate the restaurant’s ‘Highly Commended’ rating in the national round of last year’s competition, which also raises funds for the charity World Vision, is calling now for nominations for the 2014 contest, which must be in by Friday.

The special night in aid of the Volunteer Centre will be held on Tuesday, April 8 from 7pm.

If you’d like to be there, all you have to do is put your name down on the guest list.

The £15.95 entry fee includes a £5 donation for the centre, and the banquet on offer will include starter, main course, side dish, rice or nan.

There will be raffle prizes on offer including a meal for two on a return visit to the Sitar (terms and conditions apply).

If you book as an individual or a couple you’ll be able to tuck in alongside volunteers, trustees and representatives from the charities we support.

If you’d prefer to dine with friends or colleagues but still support the event, you can reserve your own table.

But either way, it’s a great way to find out more about volunteering or how our volunteers could help your organisation.

Tickets are available from The Roundhouse in Marlowes – call in or contact any of the team on 01442 247209 to make a reservation.

You can call the Sitar direct on 01442 242 609 but if you want to ensure that we receive your donation please say that you are supporting the Volunteer Centre when you make your reservation.

If you can’t make that date, why not send us a raffle prize, give us a donation or talk to us about sponsoring future events.

Volunteer Centre Dacorum has helped 10,700 volunteers and 470 charities and community groups in the last 10 years. Help us make the next 10 years even better, book your tickets for a spicy night now.
