A larger than usual audience enjoyed Tuesday’s lunchtime concert which featured Joanna Reveley (flute) accompanied by Simon Gilliver on the piano.

Joanna played Prokofiev’s second sonata for flute, which has jazz influences, and a very modern piece, Deviations on The Carnival of Venice, by Somerset-based composer Mike Mower, which combines many musical styles in its ten movements.

Joanna is the wife of the Rev James Reveley, the former vicar of St. John’s, Boxmoor, and she combines her continuing musical studies and membership of Hertfordshire Philharmonia with the role of vicar’s wife and mother.
