A school pupil had a surprise to brighten up her day when it was revealed she won her town’s Christmas light competition.

Vivianne Child and Peter Coneron of Tring Together attended the assembly at Bishop Wood School in Tring today (Tuesday) to tell an unsuspecting Sky Stephensen that she was the winner.

The Year 6 pupil’s reindeer design beat more than 100 entries from students in the town.

It will take pride of place in Church Square and will be switched on at 6.30pm during the Christmas Festival on Friday, November 30.

The youngster will also switch on the main festive lights with Tring mayor councillor Nick Hollinghurst and Dick Whittington from the Court Theatre’s pantomime.
