“The town won’t lose it’s fireworks... yet,” vow rotary club leaders.

That’s because they had a spectacular success in their first year of organising the November show.

The Rotary Club of Berkhamsted Bulbourne took over the Berkhamsted Cricket Club event from the Berkhamsted and District Round Table last year.

The group, who had organised the annual event for more than 20 years, announced it was closing due to falling membership numbers.

Club spokesman Geoff Budd said: “It costs more than £7,000 to organise and it all goes up in smoke - but we will run it again this year.”

He said there could even be a competition to win £100 or so for the person who takes the best photo on the night. This year, it’ll be on Saturday, November 5.
