THE countdown to Christmas will officially begin this weekend when Hemel Hempstead hosts its popular Victorian Evening.
Queen Victoria will make a special appearance at the Saturday event, running from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
There will be carols, children’s fairground rides, festive foods, performances, the Iain Rennie Hospice at Home Light up a Life celebration and the switching on of the High Street Christmas lights at 6.40pm.
The festive fun is organsied by good cause Community Action Dacorum.
Preparations are being finalised for the Kings Langley Christmas Lights Festival.
Stalls will open from 3pm on Saturday, November 26, and plans are in place for the Christmas lights to be switched on at 5pm.
Councillor Gerry Angiolini said: “For the first time we’ll have the RAF Halton band playing, and there will also be Kings Langley School’s Jazz band playing on stage.”
The High Street, where the festival is taking place, will be closed to traffic from 1pm.
