A vintage-inspired competition to find the new face of a Berkhamsted hair salon has produced two winners in a social media vote.

The modelling contest run by Steve Lupton Hair saw 11 finalists receive a very vintage makeover, with styles taken from the 1940s and 50s. The pictures were then published on Facebook where people were invited to like the page and then comment on their favourite.

With 9,000 views and more than 500 votes cast, there was a dead heat between Ella Harding and Stacey Marshall, who will both now feature in the salon’s windows and on the front cover of in-house magazine SL Hair.

Ella of Little Gaddesden said: “I am quite into 50s fashion so I thought I would have a go and enter the competition. I am not normally someone who wins things so I’m really pleased, and I’m glad it is a draw because Stacey and I both have quite a different style. She has a very rockabilly look while mine is more classic.”
