Hemel Hempstead’s new-look Old Town Hall hosts the town’s annual Communities Together Mela weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

The weekend of music and culture features song and dance from 1pm to 6pm on Saturday followed on Sunday by an exhibition and film covering the mysteries of the world’s largest annual pilgrimage, the Hajj.

Throughout the weekend there will be Indian food stalls, henna artists, craft and community stalls in the café and under the arches throughout the day. Access to stalls in the arches and café is free on both days.

Saturday features a Bollywood dance troupe as well as a free African drumming workshop with the chance to perform as part of the Mela celebrations that afternoon. Performances will be in the theatre at 1pm, 2.30pm, and 4pm.

Tickets are £2 each or book a full day pass for £5. Family day pass is £12 for up to four people (including minimum of two concessions). Under five year olds go free. Sunday’s timetable includes screenings of A Journey to Mecca at noon, 1.30pm, 3pm and 4.30pm. Tickets are £3.
