One of the eagerly-awaited new attractions on the summer-long Dashfest programme of arts and cultural events across the borough is drawing ever closer.
Dacorum Folk Fest is a one-day festival featuring an all-star evening concert headlined by George Papavgeris with highly-regarded duo Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin also on the bill and Kara also providing support.
Organisers promise that traditional songs of the British Isles will intermingle with the rhythms of Greece, Spain, France, Russia, India and the USA.
Philip and Hannah draw inspiration from English folk music, Indian classical and American blues to create their sound and have played all over the world, while Kara – the name means black in Turkish and punishment in Russian – are Hertfordshire-based but play Russian, English, Irish, French and self-penned material.
During the afternoon at the Boxmoor Playhouse venue there will be a family-friendly CD launch party with a showcase of local folk artists and brand new songs.
