The Whitsun bank holiday weekend brings with it one of the biggest dates on the county calendar.
And that’s why the focus is firmly on Redbourn this weekend, as the gates open for the annual Herts County Show.
Organisers are expecting up to 40,000 visitors keen to see the best of what the county has to offer.
The livestock classes are always a big attraction, and the spectacular displays and demonstrations are also a huge draw.
This year’s theme is Showcasing The Heart Of Hertfordshire and as well as the award-winning food hall and a marquee showcasing products made in the county, there will be 300 trade stands.
Free family entertainment includes the Big Top All Human Festival Circus, face painting, Professor Crump and Mr Alexander’s Travelling Show.
Dacorum Borough Council will be represented by the Dacorum Look No Further team.
You’ll find them next door to the XC climbing wall, and there will a chance to win tickets to the Chilfest music festival and grab some freebies.
Herts County Council is also pushing the boat out, showcasing an artwork competition for primary school children, a brass band performance, and the chance to win a £400 bike.
They will also be offering advice on fire safety and consumer protection, giving tips on how to make the most of leftover food and passing on information about fostering and volunteering.
The annual show is organised by the Hertfordshire Agricultural Society and takes place at the County Showground on Saturday and Sunday, with gates open from 8.30am to 5.30pm on both days.
