A landlord who turned one of Hemel Hempstead’s pubs into what he describes as the town’s best venue for live acts is busy preparing its third annual music festival.
Brett Hulme, who has run The Oddfellows Arms on London Road with wife Kim Nairne for the past three years, says tickets for the increasingly popular ‘Oddstock’ are due to go on sale next week.
Tickets, at £10, can be bought from the pub and will be limited to 250, although the event has sold out in both of its previous two years.
This year’s Oddstock will feature acoustic performances from two bands outside, followed by three acts inside during the evening.
Money raised will be donated to Cancer Research UK, and Brett says the pub has already raised around £15,000 for various charities during his and Kim’s tenure.
The venue hosts live music every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Brett, a musician himself, often plays, and there is an Open Mic night every Tuesday.
