There’s no excuse for summer holiday boredom next week – Hemel Hempstead’s adventure playgrounds are hosting special sessions to celebrate National Playday and everyone is invited.
There’s a whole series of activities planned, each running from 11am to 4pm and free of charge.
It all kicks off on Tuesday at the Adeyfield playground in Turners Hill (01442 242852, firstname.lastname@example.org) and then moves on to the Grovehill/Woodhall Farm base at the Cupid Green playing fields on Wednesday (01442 215872, email@example.com).
On Thursday the focus switches to Bennetts End Adventure Playground in Rant Meadow (01442 242301 firstname.lastname@example.org) and the week ends on Friday at Chaulden (01442 213864, email@example.com)
The adventure playgrounds offer free, open access facilities all year round.
Each features exciting outdoor play areas with structures for climbing, playing and adventure, along with indoor activities such as arts and crafts and pool tables, and healthy snacks are available from the tuck shop.
They’re aimed at children aged six to 12, though younger visitors are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
If you can’t make one of the special sessions, the adventure playgrounds are open during the school holidays from 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday.
During term time, they open from 3.30pm to 6.30pm during the week and from 11.30am to 5pm on Saturdays. There are also youth club sessions (50p admission) for those aged 11 to 16 on Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm.
National Playday is a celebration of children’s right to play, through community play events. Find out more at www.playday.org.uk
