Berkhamsted Jazz Club founder and president Michael Garrick sadly died in 2011 – but it would have been his 80th birthday next week.

And that’s why the club’s next concert is billed as a birthday tribute.

The performance, featuring Michael’s son Gabriel and friends, will be on Saturday, June 1 – the day after that 80th anniversary of the great man’s birth.

Gabriel is reuniting members of his dad’s best-known group – the Michael Garrick Sextet, which first formed in the 1960s – to create a memorable evening of music.

Doors open at Berkhamsted Civic Centre at 7.15pm for an 8pm start, tickets are £10 for members and Dacorum Card holders and £13 for visitors and guests.

Tickets are usually available on the door, but to book in advance call 01442 824173 (Monday – Friday 9am to 6pm) or pop into Perfect Pitch, Chesham, where members must show their membership card.
