International star organist Nicholas Martin appears for one night only at St Albans Organ Theatre on Saturday evening.

His mission is to bring the Blackpool sound to the cathedral city.

The keyboard king was first entranced by the seaside capital of fun when he was just 11 – on a holiday with his parents, he first experienced the Tower Ballroom Wurlitzer, probably the most famous and widely-heard theatre pipe organ in the world, and was hooked.

He began organ lessons soon after, and was only 17 when he was offered a summer season at the famous Tower.

After two seasons becoming expert in the distinctive Blackpool style he became resident theatre organist at Turner’s Musical Merry-Go-Round in Northampton .

On Saturday he will be playing the three manual, 10 rank Wurlitzer pipe organ originally installed in the Granada in Edmonton. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start, £10 tickets may be available on the door or call 03003 65 6565 to book.
