The Yorkshire mine from which it sprang may have closed 10 years ago but the seam of success which has seen the Grimethorpe Colliery Band become famous all over the world shows no signs of running out.
Last year the band travelled more than 6,000 miles, performed throughout the UK to a combined audience of more than 185,000 people and still managed to find time to record at London’s Abbey Road Studios.
They also performed at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics, watched worldwide by an estimated one billion people.
You can catch the band, whose music was a feature of the hit film Brassed Off, live at the Watford Colosseum on Sunday, May 12.
Tickets (£21 and £19) are available from watfordcolosseum.co.uk and group discounts are available.
