It’s been hailed as the perfect TV sitcom, but Fawlty Towers is also a popular stage show, and Tring Festival Company is returning to Torquay’s most chaotic hotel later this year

The show was a big hit when it was staged in Tring in 2009, and classic episodes A Touch of Class, The Builders andThe Germans will once again be played out at the Court Theatre in June.

Open rehearsals for anyone who wants to be involved will be on Sunday, March 9 from 10am to 1pm at Marsworth Millennium Hall. For more details email fawlty@tringfestivalcompany.co.uk

A spokesman for the company said: “These are open auditions for anyone to attend.

“We will be looking for a close mimic of the classic characters Basil, Sybil, Manuel, Polly and the Major with a little more flexibility around the cameo roles within these episodes such as Mr O’Reilly and Lord Melbury.

“We are not looking for your interpretation of the character so it is recommended you study the episodes and characters prior to auditioning.”

Audition pieces are available on request.
