Jazz isn’t just impenetrable noodling and extended improvised noodling – back in the 1950s and 1960s everyone was mad about trad, dad.
Smart and slick bands led by the likes of Acker Bilk and Kenny Ball pumped out the bright and brassy sounds of New Orleans with crowd-pleasing chutzpah. Remember Midnight In Moscow and Stranger On The Shore?
And that’s the music that will be to the fore when the Stars of British Jazz – a band made up of one-time sidemen of Acker, Kenny and others alongside younger musicians who also love the trad scene – come to Pendley’s Court Theatre on Friday, March 15.
Tickets are £15 with £13.50 concessions, find out more online at www.courttheatre.co.uk.
