A total of £3 million has been allocated to community groups by County Hall’s locality budget scheme since its launch in 2009.
The milestone was reached by councillors donating funds from their individual £10,000 annual budgets to worthwhile projects in the wards they represent.
Recent donations include £1,000 to fund new computers for the Gadebridge Community Association, and £474 to Sunnyside Rural Trust, a charity that creates rural work experience opportunities for adults with learning disabilities.
Herts County Council deputy leader Chris Hayward said: “There are numerous local groups and organisations which serve the community and enhance people’s quality of life - sometimes with little in the way of financial support - and it was these that we wanted to target.”
The closing date for bids from community groups for this financial year is next Friday, February 15.
