EVENTS organisers have their fingers crossed that the sunny spells in the weather forecast will pull in crowds to Hemel Hempstead.
The next two weeks will see the area come alive with funfairs and Olympic celebrations.
Carter’s Steam Fair is making its regular trip to Hemel Hempstead and will be on Boxmoor Common until Sunday, with a spectacular fireworks display on Saturday night.
The fair arrived in the town a week early when a scheduled stop London was scrapped because of a waterlogged site. Staff created makeshift wooden roads to get the machinery on to the common when they arrived in town.
The Across Hemel events in Gadebridge Park will kick off on Saturday with a sports quiz for men and there will be a joint church service the following day.
Family fun mornings, barbecues and debates are among the activities during the week and then on Friday, July 27 from 3pm a massive outdoor screen will be up to broadcast the Olympic opening ceremony.
There will be another family fun day the following day and on Sunday, July 29 worshipers will be out for a picnic and praise.
