Servicemen and women who gave their lives for their country will be remembered at a commemorative event in Tring Memorial Gardens on Saturday morning.
Between 11am and noon there will be fundraising for the Royal British Legion and free hot chocolate on offer, as well as musical entertainment.
The event – ahead of Armistice Day on Monday – is the result of collaboration between the Friends of Tring Memorial Gardens, Dacorum Borough Council and the Berkhamsted and Tring branches of the Royal British Legion.
Craig Thorpe, environmental group services manager at Dacorum Borough Council, said: “The gardens were created in 1953 as a memorial for the lost lives of the second world war. We want the gardens to become relevant to our generation and the generations to come.”
Mayor of Dacorum Penny Hearn will also unveil the park’s new information board on the day, which will display information about the gardens themselves and servicemen from the local area who died in service.
