NEIGHBOURHOOD Watch has issued a warning telling people to double lock their doors, keep valuables out of sight and do not advertise on social networking sites that they are going away.

The crime prevention advice was published on its website following two incidents affecting homes in Aldbury while the householders were away.

One was an attempted burglary in Trooper Road between March 24 and April 4 when criminals tried but failed to get into a property through a back window.

The residents of a property in Toms Hill Road were not so lucky when they had a laptop. luggage, a safe containing cash and jewellery and a Audi coupe stolen from their home between 6pm on April 4 and 9am on April 5.

The thieves forced a window out of its frame to get in through the front of the house before they ransacked the property to find valuables.
