An aspiring triathlete from Tring has joined forces with a former British triathlon champion in a bid to step up her training.

Amy Kilpin has formed a coaching partnership with Rick Kiddle, who is something of a legend in the field as one of the first ever triathletes and triathlete coaches in the UK.

He will be working very closely with Amy to improve and develop her performance for 2014 and beyond, with the main aim to get her ready for the European long distance triathlete championships in Austria next June, where she will represent her country.

In return, Amy will be heping Rick to raise the profile of his businesses both locally and nationally.

After competing in the world and European championships and Commonwealth Games, Rick became one of the first national triathlon coaches in the country.

He introduced spinning – a form of intense cardio exercise performed on a stationary bike – to the UK in 1996 and launched the National Open Water Coaching Association back in 2010.

On her blog, 27-year-old Amy said: “This new partnership is extremely exciting and we are both looking forward to working closely together.”
