Armed police and the dog unit swooped on Sarratt after a woman was mugged and threatened by a man with a concealed weapon.

Police were called following the incident in Deadman’s Ash Lane, Sarratt, shortly after midday on Thursday (April 23).

The victim was not injured during the incident and the robber ran off in an unknown direction.

He was carrying a weapon, which police say was concealed by some sort of cover.

Officers launched a manhunt of the usually quiet village but the thief has not yet been traced.

Det Insp Phil Moss said: “We are doing all we can to trace the person responsible and I would ask that anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, or who has any other information about what happened, contacts police immediately via the non-emergency number 101.”

The mugger is described as black with a very thin face, approximately 5ft 8in tall, aged around 35 and of thin to medium build.

He was wearing dark blue clothing and a dark blue beanie hat with a lighter blue band around it.
